Mesh and the Environment

Mesh Office Seating (UK) Ltd is currently working towards an Integrated Management System (IMS) which encompasses the standards for Quality and Environment. The management system supports the achievement of our aim to become one of the largest privately owned UK Office Seating companies and our clients preferred supplier by setting out working processes and expected standards.

We are currently working towards achieving BS EN ISO14001:2004 Environmental Management Standard. Our goal for certification of this standard is Summer 2010.

Our Enjoy and Ergohuman chairs are 97% recyclable, while our latest addition, Ergohuman Plus, is 98% recyclable and is certified by Greenguard Environmental Institute. Greenguard is a non-profit making organisation who has established performance based standards to define goods with low chemical and particle emissons for use indoors.

Mesh Office Seating recognises the need for sustainable development and consumption, and is committed to improving the environmental impact of its activities.

We aim to achieve this by working with our suppliers, customers, stakeholders and also through training and educating our employees. Our environmental initiatives include, but are not limited to:

Energy and Water

We aim to implement a number of efficiency measures to reduce our consumption of energy and water.

  • 'Save-it' policy to switch off all lighting when not required

  • The majority of office waste paper is shredded and recycled via contractor.
  • Electrical items are taken to the local authority recycling station.

Print and paper

We aim to significantly reduce our use of paper through a number of measures.

  • Where possible tender documentation will be submitted electronically
  • Recycled paper and office products are used wherever possible
  • Ink cartridges are recycled

 Suppliers

We take into account environmental policies when selecting suppliers.

Transport

We are assessing a number of ideas in respect of transport:

  • We are measuring the companies carbon footprint and have an objective in place to reduce this as part our IMS objectives.
